The Urbane are a four-piece band from Reading, comprising John Mitchell (guitarist for prog legends Arena) on lead vocals and guitar, Martin Raggett on bass guitar, and Paddy Darlington on keyboards. Bob Dalton of It Bites fame has recently joined the band on drums and has played several gigs with them already in the UK and Europe.

Their first album, 'Neon' received critical acclaim upon its release in 1999, and their second offering 'Glitter' has also done rather splendidly as well. They have supported a number of well-known musicians at gigs across the UK and Europe, including Marillion, Kings X, Steve Hogarth, Bowes & Morley (Thunder) and Asia.

Highly Recommended !!!

ELIXIR is a typical band from the French Progressive rock scene, born a decade after the Golden Age. Being now in the Eighties does not prevent from pursuing the legacy of ANGE or ATOLL, without forgetting to include in its music echoes from IQ, Steve HACKETT or GENESIS. Published on the Musea label in the year 1986, the first opus "Sabbat" is based on beautiful vocal parts, superb melodies built upon energetic rhythms, not to mention magnificent combinations between guitars and keyboards.

Main influences were 70's British bands like Genesis, Gentle Giant and King Crimson. They recorded a two demos, meanwhile changing drummer position for Valter Strappolini and bassist-guitarist Roberto Pizzi. Their new sound however reminded this of a ELP with prominent keyboards.

Yak - Journey of the Yak (2008)

Country: UK
Genre: Neo-Prog, Progressive Rock

Format: MP3 VBR 319 kbps

Musically we're talking a mix of influences from Genesis and Camel mainly, with inspirations taken from the more atmospheric creations of these fine acts from the 70's. Some compositions sound more like the one than the other; but most times the music comes across as a mix of both.
There's captivating moods and melodies aplenty, fans of symphonic rock will view this as one of the better releases of 2008.

Good prog band from the L.A. area, which performs an intricate music with progressive and fusion elements,
resulting in a very interesting blend. Sophisticated writing skill with knock-out, firey playing.
