The Gift - Awake & Dreaming (2006)

Artist: The Gift
Album: Awake & Dreaming
Country: UK
Genre: Symphonic Progressive Rock, Psychedelic Rock
Year: 2006
Time: CD1 - 41:47 CD2 - 1:05:09
Format: MP3 320|128 kbps
Size: 154 Mb (+3%)

Their sound is quite varied, but takes on a definite symphonic rock air to it. They have hard rocking sections, pastoral songs, and "complex time signatures, wild key changes and ambitious concepts."

Their progressive rock influences include Pink Floyd, Genesis (Gabriel era), Yes, David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Porcupine Tree, King Crimson, Tangerine Dream, Rush and Dream Theater. They also take influence from non-prog bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, The Who, Beatles, Massive Attack, U2, Sex Pistols and Prince.

Лучший или пожалуй один из лучших прог-альбомов 2006 года !
Ник Шилтон, обозреватель журнала "Classic Rock", сказал немного, но довольно убедительно: "It's a Work of Great Beauty".
В альбоме есть немного от Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Genesis, Dream Theater...
Наверное лучший альбом, который я слышал за последний год !!!
P.s. Ищу вторую часть этого великолепия, т.к. здесь она 128 kbps (звук нормальный).

ELIXIR is a typical band from the French Progressive rock scene, born a decade after the Golden Age. Being now in the Eighties does not prevent from pursuing the legacy of ANGE or ATOLL, without forgetting to include in its music echoes from IQ, Steve HACKETT or GENESIS. Published on the Musea label in the year 1986, the first opus "Sabbat" is based on beautiful vocal parts, superb melodies built upon energetic rhythms, not to mention magnificent combinations between guitars and keyboards.

The mediocre English vocals has a slight accent but this doesn't effect the music in a negative way, there is so much to enjoy (lots of instrumental parts) like in the final track "L9" delivering strong play on sax, keyboards and guitar (howling in a great finale).

MAZE OF TIME cites its closest influence as GENESIS from the "Selling England By The Pound" or "Trick Of The Tail" period and have a sound reminiscent of recent groups such as SPOCK'S BEARD, THE FLOWER KINGS, LIKE WENDY and MARILLION. Though leaning more to the Neo-progressive rather than Symphonic, MAZE OF TIME has virtues from the Symphonic form of progressive rock with lush keyboards, poetic lyrics and lengthy compositions.
